Why should we be the only ones celebrating this holiday season with Christmas cookies when our furbabies could join in the fun too!?
These festive dog treats, aka Puppy Christmas Cookies, are the perfect way to make your furry best friends happy this holiday season. Plus, instead of them drooling over your Christmas cookies, you can just give them one of theirs instead!
I have to say, everything about these cookies is fun. From making the batter, using the cookie cutters, smelling them bake in the oven (your house will smell like peanut butter by the way), to frosting them was all so so enjoyable.
I was so happy making these because I knew they were for my favorite girls. And you can bet I told them throughout the whole process that the cookies were for them. Zoey was obviously excited. She never left my side!
I will forever make these for my hushpuppies every year for Christmas. My girls love them and I know yours will too! So give them the gift you know they’ll love…treats!!
Furry Christmas Everyone and Happy Pawlidays!
*Notes: If your dog is sensitive to wheat, then you can swap out the whole wheat flour for a nut or rice flour instead! Also pay attention to the peanut butter you use to make sure it does not contain xylitol. I used Natural peanut butter by the Peter Pan brand!*
P.S.
Trying to get a picture of the girls with their cookies was the hardest thing I have ever done. But that’s cause they were delicious! Enjoy some funny photos of my girls having to patiently wait for more cookies and then gobbling them up as soon as (actually earlier than) they were told they could!
Here’s Zoey seductively staring at her Puppy Christmas Cookies:

I hope your furbabies enjoy their cookies as much as mine did this Christmas! 🙂
Puppy Christmas Cookies
Fun and Festive Christmas Cookies for our favorite puppies to enjoy!
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Peanut Butter
- 1 Tbsp Molasses
- 1 Cup Milk
- 2 Cups Whole Wheat Flour
- 1 Tbsp Baking Powder
- 1 Tsp Cinnamon
- Frosting:
- 2 8 oz packages Cream Cheese, softened
- 2 ½ Tsp Honey
- 1 Tsp Vanilla
- Red and Green food coloring
- Tools:
- Christmas Cookie Cutters
- Parchment Paper
- Plastic or Piping Bag
Directions
- Step 1 Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Prepare two baking sheets by lining them with parchment paper.
- Step 2 Combine the cookie ingredients using a mixer on low until they are combined.
- Step 3 Take your dough and form it into one giant ball. Place the dough ball between two sheets of parchment paper. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough out to approximately 1/4 of an inch thick.
- Step 4 Use your cookie cutters and cut the dough into Christmas themed shapes and place on the baking sheets about half an inch apart. Form the excess dough into a ball and repeat the process until you use up the rest of the dough.
- Step 5 Bake the cookies for about 17 minutes. Allow the cookies to cool.
- Step 6 Make your frosting by beating your softened cream cheese. Add the honey and vanilla and beat again until combined.
- Step 7 Split your frosting into separate bowls for each different color of frosting you are wanting. For my frosting look, I used 1/4 of the frosting for red, 1/4 of the frosting for green, and 2/4 of the frosting for white. Add your food coloring into each bowl and stir it in until you reach your desired color. Place each frosting into its own piping or plastic baggie and cut the corner of the bag.
- Step 8 Frost your cookies and have fun with it! Treat your puppies to a Christmas cookie and store the rest in the fridge. Merry Christmas!
